I watched a Unity tutorial called "Unity Tutorial 1: Building a Simple House | Beginner"on YouTube. I learnt that when making a house, it can be easier to build when you give things like the floor colour so you can tell the difference between the floor and the wall for example. This can be achieved through adding a texture. I also discovered the benefit of using the duplicate shortcut which saves you spending time creating four individual walls for example, instead one can be created and then duplicated to speed up the design process. This can be achieved by pressing control D when the object is selected.
I also watched a tutorial called "Building House Interior In Unity | Part #2" on Youtube. I learnt that it can be beneficial to look up pictures of real life interior house design to get a better vision of what you are trying to achieve before jumping straight into unity. This can help with inspiration as well as adding various different features that you may not have thought to add in the first place. I learnt that using a plane is an easy feature to use for creating a simple floor base. This is found in the 3D object menu. I also learnt that you have to raise your floor just above the grid so that it is at ground level. I also discovered how to resize the pane in case I wanted to make the floor bigger. I also discovered that you can download models in the asset store for free which you can use to build your house.
