An Introduction To A Future Superstar DJ

Hi, My name is Ciaran if you couldn't already tell from the name of my blog. I am 20 years old and I am currently studying Creative Digital Media in University. My biggest accomplishment last year was probably winning two awards for the DJ Society which I was the CEO of last year. I received a member of the year award and the society won best new society. I went to two music festivals over the summer which was Body and Soul and Higher Vision Festival. Body and Soul was definitely my favourite festival because of it's unique crowd, stages and atmosphere.

I have a dog named Alfie who I have had for 14 years. He is a Pomeranian mixed with a jack Russell. I recently welcomed a new dog into my family called Cooper. He is a Labrador mixed with a Pointer and is currently only 8 weeks old. I love watching movies and series. I spend a lot of my spare time watching Netflix. I have so many shows I like but one I'm really enjoying at the moment is called Hip Hop Evolution and is about all the early roots and foundation of hip hop. I don't read but it's something I would like to do more of but unfortunately I don't get the same satisfaction as I would watching a movie or listening to a podcast. I do like listening to the odd podcast, the Joe Rogan experience and the True Geordie podcast would be two of my favourite podcasts out there at the moment.

My favourite type of music would be minimal house and techno. However I am an all genre appreciator and if I like the sound of a song, it doesn't matter what the genre is, I'm going to listen to it! My short term goals would be to get through this year of college, become more active with exercising again and try maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle. My long term goals would be to become comfortable with producing music, run my own music event/festival and establish myself as a DJ. I wold also definitely like to learn how to drive sooner rather than later but I think that is going to have to be left on the back burner for the moment.

My favourite football team is Liverpool and they won the champions league last year for anyone who didn't know. I'm hoping they can win the premier league trophy this year as it's the only trophy they haven't won yet. My favourite player in the Liverpool team at the moment is probably Mohamed Salah because of how prolific he has been at scoring goals over the past year or so. Football has always been a big passion of mine and I have played football ever since I was very young. I haven't played with a team in over two years as I had two bad injuries on my ankle and groin and that left me sidelined for a long time. I went to a few training sessions with my local club before starting back in college but I wasn't able to keep it up as the training times kept clashing with my work roster.

I also like to play games in my free time. I currently own an Xbox One console. I wrote about a game that is arguably my favourite game ever to play to date in another blog post if you would like to read that. However some other games I have also really liked to play over the years would have been Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty World at War, FIFA, Skyrim, Minecraft and the Witcher 3 to name a few. I have struggled to find much games in recent years that are as gripping as some of the older games I have played but I am looking forward to playing the new FIFA 20 and Modern Warfare.

My main hobby at the moment however is DJ'ing. I also spend a lot of my time crate digging which in terms of DJ'ing means looking for new songs to play. I DJ as much as I can and I also collect records. I bought a record player over the summer so I have been trying to build up my record collection whenever I can as there is no better feeling than getting to play a new record. I currently DJ on a digital turntable but another long term goal of mine would be to acquire a full vinyl setup and become comfortable at being able to mix on that.

I guess it comes hand and hand with my DJ'ing but I love to go out and let loose! There is two main reasons for this and of course one would be music and the other would be socialising. I love going out with a few mates or even going on the odd wild solo adventure to a nightclub or festival and just dancing my socks off and making crazy memories. I love meeting new people especially with similar interests and personalities. There is nothing better than proper connecting with a random person on a mental level who you have only just met.

I also forgot to mention that I love my food and now don't take that it the wrong way, I like to look after myself but I also do treat myself when I see fit. My favourite dish at the moment is probably my brothers Cajun chicken pasta dish which is gorgeous. I also have been fond of an odd magnum ice cream of late. I also don't like most homemade roast dinners anymore but if it's a carvery in a restaurant well that's a different story, you can't beat a good carvery!

  7. Hello Ciaran, I have just read through your blog and I must say I really enjoyed learning all about you. You're a DJ you say? That's pretty cool, I have never been one myself though we did use to have one in our school, but sadly they were a bit rubbish. You on the other hand I imagine are great. Like the whole story behind your football career and your love of Liverpool is well detailed too. I look forward to reading the rest of your blogs.
