Learning Challenge: Sleep and Sleep Deprivation

I read the article called "When Your Brain Doesn't Sleep" by Laura Gibbs. This article talked about the various affects of sleep deprivation. I was already aware that Hallucinations were a potential affect of being sleep deprived. I was unaware however that brain damage was a potential affect of being sleep deprived. I am not going to lie, this really did put the fear factor in me hearing this. I just pulled an "all nighter" recently in order to finish an assignment and meet a deadline. I am now really motivated to not put myself in this position ever again after hearing such a potential severe outcome.

I really do want to explore the more in depth affects of how humans and performance are affected depending on how much sleep an individual gets. I want to now in future work on establishing a consistent and effective sleep routine to try and maintain optimal performance as often as I can. I am going to get in contact with a friend of mine who is currently researching and studying the topic of sleep and how it affects us humans. I know he has read a lot of books around the topics so he will be able to further educate me on the topic. I look forward to taking his information and knowledge on board and applying some of his advice to my own sleep routine and lifestyle.
