Feedback In
I think the quality of feedback I am receiving from other students is quite poor. I haven't got a significantly high amount on my blogs but the ones I have don't seem to be of huge benefit to me. I have even seen some on other peoples blogs and it seems like people aren't even reading the persons blog and are just writing anything to meet the word count and get there marks.
I think the comments that are the most useful are the feedback comments for the project. These comments are where people seem to make the most effort in giving constructive feedback to other students. I do however find people aren't following the instructions on how they are supposed to be commenting. There seems to be a lot of irrelevant information within comments in order to fill word counts.
Feedback Out
I find the comments I leave on other students blogs to be very informative and helpful. I always read peoples blogs thoroughly and try be as constructive and helpful as I can. I think I am great at giving feedback on students projects. I see so many students coming up with great game ideas and I find my brain goes wild thinking of features that can be added to their game which make it even better. I always leave them with suggestions and inform them of any good decisions they have made. I never shoot down their ideas but I always leave them with positive and constructive comments that they can benefit from.
I have read some articles on feedback strategies which have been very useful. I have learnt new ways to give feedback when commenting on other peoples blogs. I am also getting some good ideas for my own writing when analysing other peoples blogs. The approach differs from student to student when it comes to a reading. I have noticed some structures among other students which I like. This helps me to improve and reconsider some of the layout features and my own tactical approach when it comes to completing a blog post.
Blog Comments
I do feel a sense of getting to know people by connecting with them at their blog. I have discovered things about class mates that I never would have if it wasn't for the blogs. I find this is good for trying to have conversations with fellow class mates because if you identify a similar interest between each other then you can strike up a conversation about it in person or through the comments.
I was really happy with my introduction post. I'm not 100% sure but I think mine could be the longest in the class. I don't mean to say this in a boasting way but the requirements said 300-1000 words if I remember correctly so I wanted to make sure I was definitely within the range. I think I also gave people who didn't know me a lot of information about me to get a better understanding of who I am.
I am also happy with my blog in general. I think I keep it nicely organised, make it easy to read and add images that relate to the each individual blog. I am also happy with how my blog provides a space where people can get to know me. I think there is a part of it that seems intimidating because you are spreading personal information which can be hard to do at first. I think it has benefits overall though giving people a place where they can better understand you if you don't talk to them that often.
Looking Forward
I would like for the lecturer to ensure that people are truly engaging with their feedback comments in the appropriate manner and give them feedback on how there comments could be improved. I think this would benefit me and other class members. I think by only giving marks to the people who are trying to engage effectively with feedback will encourage people to put more effort into writing their feedback comments. This would courage people to put in an honest effort to help the person when they are giving feedback which I or someone could take on board and apply. I think it would also benefit students as they would learn more effective ways to give feedback which they can use in the working environment in the future.
I don't want to make any changes in particular to my blog at the moment. I might change my theme again if I get tired of it the way it looks but for now I am happy with it. I am always actively trying to improve the layout of my blogs so that it is easy to read for the viewer.
